Instructions:
1. Activate yeast: In a small bowl, mix warm water, warm milk, 1 tbsp sugar, and yeast. Let it sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
2. Mix dough: In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, and salt. Add egg, melted butter, and yeast mixture. Mix until dough comes together.
3. Knead: Knead for 8–10 minutes until soft and elastic. If sticky, add a little flour.
4. First rise: Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1–1.5 hours, until doubled.
5. Shape: Roll out dough to about 1 cm thickness. Cut circles with a donut cutter (or round cutter + small cutter for the center).
6. Second rise: Place on a tray, cover, and let rise again for 30–40 minutes.
7. Fry: Heat oil on medium, fry donuts until golden brown on each side. Drain on paper towels.
